Florian Römer studied computer engineering at Technische Universität Ilmenau, Germany, and McMaster University, Canada, earning his Diplom-Ingenieur and doctoral degrees in communications and electrical engineering, respectively. He has been a research assistant, postdoctoral research fellow, and group leader at the Fraunhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing IZFP, focusing on innovative sensing and signal processing. Römer received several awards, including the Siemens Communications Academic Award and the EURASIP best dissertation award. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Technical Area Committee of EURASIP and now serves as a senior area editor for IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing.
